| Science Fiction - We have always loved stories that take us light-years into the future and give a glimpse into futuristic life. Yes, science fiction has always been loved by people of all ages. Most people think of this genre as dealing with only science and technology but it is in essence a whole lot more than just great technology in the future.
Mostly science fiction is essentially about human beings and their lives and how science and technology affects us all in more ways than we could imagine. Yes, a lot of stories delve into the future and the picture is usually replete with futuristic looking guns, weapons, artillery and skilled warriors – however the underlying fact is it’s about how technology has made us as more advanced as a race. Many science fiction stories have talked about time travel or concepts like aliens visiting the earth. But if you notice more closely every story has a certain human connection to it. It’s not just about technology and high-end gadgets.
Science fiction exists for adults and children alike. There are many futuristic concepts told in such stories include germ warfare, computer hacking attempts (which of course has now become a firm reality), journey to the moon (another reality today), about invisibility etc. Many of them also talk about robots that serve to help humans in performing daily household chores. This is another reality today. With the advent of artificial intelligence having talking refrigerators or robots that clean the house is a commonality in many modern households today. That’s one reason why science fiction is pretty much an indicator of the times to come. Most of the time things prophesied in stories have come true years later. |
